Redbreast Moscatel Wine Cask Limited Edition is the latest release in the Redbreast Iberian Series — Irish single pot still whiskey from Midleton distilled from malted and unmalted barley, triple distilled, initially matured in bourbon and sherry casks, and finished in Moscatel wine casks from Bodegas Quitapenas in Málaga, Spain, where the sun-drenched fortified wine character imparts floral aromas, pineapple, peach, and honey to the classic Redbreast pot still foundation.

The Iberian Series reflects Redbreast Master Blender David McCabe's project of sourcing distinctive casks from Spanish bodegas and Portuguese quintas — following the rich history of importing Iberian fortified wines into Ireland dating to the late 1800s, when Irish distilleries first used these casks for maturation. Moscatel is a sweet fortified wine from Málaga's Muscat grape, with a particularly floral, honeyed, and stone fruit character that differs markedly from the darker Oloroso and PX sherry influences more commonly seen in Irish whiskey. The family-owned Bodegas Quitapenas provenance gives the cask selection specific artisan credentials. The Moscatel finish produces a vibrant, complex whiskey where the Iberian wine character and the Irish pot still spice coexist in an unusually bright and floral profile.
