Plum and sweet berry flavors are joined by iodine, herbs and mint in this generous Vintage Port. The medium- to full-bodied palate is very sweet yet refined, with fine tannins and impressive length. Produced in a limited 3,000-bottle release, it should become especially appealing with additional cellar time.
This limited bicentenary release blends Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Sousão and old-vine field varieties matured in old oak vats. Initially angular, it opens with air into a sweet, fruit-driven Port supported by firm structure and excellent persistence. It needs patience to integrate fully and has the balance for decades of development.
