25 years. The apex of the Eagle Rare family — Buffalo Trace's ultra-aged single barrel expression at its most extreme age point. Eagle Rare 25 Year exists at the outer boundary of what Kentucky bourbon aging can sustainably achieve.
Eagle Rare 10 Year is one of Buffalo Trace's most recognized expressions. Eagle Rare 17 Year BTAC is the same family nearly two decades aged. Eagle Rare 25 Year takes this progression to its logical extreme: a quarter century of Kentucky barrel cycling, from a distillery that produces George T. Stagg, William Larue Weller, and the full BTAC lineup — consistently rated among the world's finest bourbons.
At 25 years, bourbon has survived extraordinary attrition. Angel's share removes approximately 3–4% of barrel volume annually in Kentucky's climate — over 25 years, a barrel that began at 53 gallons may contain as little as 10–15 gallons of remaining spirit. What survives is extraordinarily concentrated: color deepened to near-mahogany, flavor compounds extracted over 25 annual temperature cycles, and a profile so far removed from young bourbon that comparison between the two is almost meaningless. Every Eagle Rare 25 Year bottle is one of a tiny number produced from the few barrels that survived to this age point without over-oaking.
