“Flowers, green apples, tangerine, pineapple, and honey notes are packed into the perfume. Rich, oily white peaches, and yellow citrus with a drizzle of tart green apple combine to fill your palate with a touch of crushed rocks on the backend. The wine blends 65% Sauvignon Blanc and 35% Semillon. Drink from 2024-2030.” - 92 PTS, JEFF LEVE, THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER (05/2023)

“A superb example of the vivacity and complexity that can be found in 2022 Pessac-Léognan whites. The hot summer resulted in lower yields of intensely flavored grapes. Ten months of barrel age adds to the complexity of this wine, which is comprised of Sauvignon Blanc (65%) and Sémillon (35%). The nose is fresh and forward with tantalizing aromas of peaches, pineapple, grapefruit and lemon zest backed by hints of herbs and spices. Richly textured but still lively on the palate, it offers layers of ripe peach, pineapple and citrus zest plus herbs, vanilla and spices. It will provide delicious drinking for another 5 years and beyond.” - 92 PTS, WAYNE BELDING, WINE REVIEW ONLINE (02/2025)

WINERY NOTES:

“(Cru Classé de Graves) More than seven centuries have shaped the vineyard of this vast Pessac-Léognan estate, making it one of the oldest wine estates in the Bordeaux region. The Benedictine monks, the founding fathers of the Carbonnieux estate, have left an indelible mark on its long history. Just like the notable Ferron and Bouchereau families, and today the Perrin family, who have managed the estate since 1956, spanning four generations. Château Carbonnieux wines have enjoyed an international reputation for a long time. It is even said that in the 18th century, the white wines were cleverly sent to the palace of the Sultan of Constantinople under the name “Carbonnieux mineral water” due to their clarity and purity. Château Carbonnieux is unique in that it produces nearly equal quantities of white wines (42 ha) and red wines (50 ha), and it represents the largest area of white wine production in the Appellation. Certified HVE3 (High Environmental Value level 3), Château Carbonnieux is continually advancing towards increasingly eco-friendly agriculture.”
